Twitter Following List Viewer
How Much of Someone's Following List X Shows
Open any account's Following tab on X and you'll get around 50 accounts. There's no fixed cutoff, and sometimes it runs a little past 50. For an account that follows thousands, that's barely scratching the surface.
The order won't help you piece together the rest. X doesn't list accounts in the order they were followed: the list appears to be ranked by relevance, and it can look different depending on who's viewing it and from where.
| Following tab on X | Fedica report | |
|---|---|---|
| Accounts shown | Around 50 | The full list |
| Order | Appears to be by relevance; varies by viewer | By each account's follower count |
| Private accounts | Not visible | Not visible |
Prefer to check by hand first? The blog has a step-by-step guide on how to see someone's full following list on X.
What You Can Do With the Full List
Sorting by follower count puts the biggest accounts in someone's network at the top, so the people with real reach are the first ones you see.
- Download it: export the list of accounts1.
- Add accounts from the report to a list in a couple of clicks.
- Build an X Ads audience: send a competitor's followers, or the accounts they follow, to X Ads with a single click.
- Find common followers between that account and yours, or any other account you've analyzed.
How the Following List Viewer Works
It takes one report.
- In Fedica, open the Research menu, select "Analyze an account," then click "Create Report."
- Enter the handle of the X, Bluesky, or Mastodon account.
- Choose "Following" to see who they follow, or "Followers only" to see who follows them. "Followers + Engagement" adds their posts and engagement metrics.
- Click Calculate, then Start Now.
- Open the list in the finished report. Accounts are sorted by follower count.
- Use the three dots next to the list to download it1 or add accounts to a list.
The same report also maps the account's audience and breaks down its demographics. See X (Twitter) account analysis for everything else it covers.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does X only show about 50 accounts of someone's following list?
- X shows around 50 accounts from another account's followers or following list. The number isn't fixed and can run a little higher, but for most accounts it's a small slice of the full list.
Can I see the following list of a private X account?
- No. The followers and following lists of private (protected) accounts aren't visible on X, and Fedica can't show them either.
Do I need to be logged into X to see someone's list?
- You need a Fedica account with an X account connected, but you don't have to be logged into X itself to run a report.
Can Fedica show who an account followed recently?
- Not yet. Each report is a snapshot of the list on the day you run it. To spot new follows, run a second report later and compare the two lists. X's own list won't tell you either. It isn't in the order the account followed people.
Which Fedica plan includes the list viewer?
- The followers and following list viewer is part of account analysis, which is available on Fedica's Grow plan or higher. Additional fees may apply, so check the Research section of Fedica's plans page.
Does it work on Bluesky and Mastodon?
- Yes, the Followers and Following reports work on Bluesky and Mastodon accounts as well as X.
