Five Twitter (now X) Hacks That Will Get You Noticed By Your Target Audience

With hundreds of million users and over 500 million posts sent every day, it can be challenging to be heard above all that noise on X (formerly Twitter)

However, remember that you’re not aiming to gain the attention of all of X’s users; you’re after a specific audience who is relevant to your business goals. And if you want to leverage X for its abilities to target valuable leads, you should know that there are a few X hacks that will get you seen by the right users.

1. Send a Promoted Post to a Target Audience

What if you wanted to send a promoted post to folks that are not your existing audience? The X ad platform enables you to do that while hiding it from your followers, optimizing ad budget and not annoying your followers.

By sending a promoted post to a targeted audience, you can reach a new group of people you’ve not interacted with before.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to the X ads dashboard
  2. Select your objective – followers, engagement, video views, clicks, app installs, or lead generation
  3. Click Create Campaign
  4. Under “Select additional audience features, find ”In the “Select your audience” section
  5. Click Add followers
  6. Uncheck the box that says “Also target your followers.”

2. Pin a Post at the Top of Your Profile

If one of your posts is converting especially well, or if you have valuable information that your X audience should know, you can pin it so it always appears at the top of your timeline. Remember though the pinned X is like the entrance to your home or business, make it really engaging and interesting.

Here’s how:

  1. Find the post you want to share
  2. Click the … icon next to the heart icon
  3. Select Pin to your profile page

3. Increase Customer Engagement by Using Advanced Search

You can discover social media influencers, competitors, and conversations relevant to your business by using Fedica’s “Listen and Explore” advanced search capabilities. You can then use this insight to come up with relevant topics and hashtags associated with them, and increase engagement with followers and customers. With Fedica, you can:

  • Search any word, hashtag, account, URL or phrase
  • Create an interactive hashtag map and drill down for details
  • See other topics associated with your search
  • Set up multiple searches in parallel, view on an interactive map and compare results

4. Segment Your Feed with Lists

If you’re following more than a couple of hundred people on X, it’s undoubtedly impossible to keep track of the content you want to see. With X Lists, you can create custom feeds of groups like influencers, leads, customers, or prospects. By segmenting your feed with lists, you can engage with each important group more effectively.

Here’s how:

  1. Click on your profile icon to reveal the drop down menu
  2. Click on Lists
  3. Click Create new list
  4. Select a name for your list and a short description of the list.
  5. Select if you want the list to be private or public
  6. Click Save list

To see the posts in your lists on X

  1. Go to your profile page
  2. Click the Lists tab
  3. Click the name of the list

To take it one step further, Fedica also has powerful analytics that allows precise segmentation of your audience. You can segment your audience with a range of filters such as location, gender, professions, your own customer list, or search for any keyword in their BIO.

You can then engage the followers you have selected, export the data to Excel, categorize them in a list or craft direct message campaigns to target them precisely.

5. Build a Content calendar

Telling the story to your followers and sharing with them engaging content is the foundation of success in X. If you take a disciplined approach and build a calendar, you will have much better engagement and will save tons of time.

This may sound like a flagrant promotion…, but we can’t hold back here: Fedica calendar tool allows you to build a powerful calendar in no time. It has two modes:

PowerSchedule – for time sensitive content (say product announcements, concerts schedule, etc). Here you have maximum control over the day and time, including “the best time to post” feature that is tailored to your audience. You can also repeat content daily, weekly or monthly and define end date.

PIPELINE – for sharing content that is not time sensitive with your followers; for example general industry trends, product and service capabilities or any content that remains valid over some period of time. You define the number of posts per day, push the content to the pipeline, and Fedica does the rest. You may define more than one pipeline.

Augmenting the calendar are browser extensions enabling you to share any content on the web right into your X calendar.

These are obviously not all the X hacks out there, but surely a good starting point.
