New in Fedica: AutoPlugs, Thumbnails, and a Gen-AI Switch

Seven things shipped in Fedica this month: a switch that turns generative AI off completely, automatic alt text, AutoPlugs, Post Booster, LinkedIn PDF carousels, custom video thumbnails, and media sharing from Android. Most of them have the same shape. Something used to get decided for you, and now you decide it: which frame of your video people see before they press play, whether AI touches your account at all, what happens to a post in the hours after it goes out.

Here’s each one, and where to find it.

Key Takeaways

  • Gen-AI is a toggle now. Turn it off in “My Account” and it stays off. Fedica doesn’t use your data to train any LLM either way.
  • Alt text generates in one click, in the composer or the media library, on every platform. Set it in the media library and it follows the image into every future post.
  • AutoPlugs send a follow-up reply carrying a link or an action once your post reaches an engagement level you pick. X, Bluesky, Mastodon, and Threads.
  • Post Booster reposts your post for you when it hits the engagement level you set, as long as it gets there inside 48 hours. X, Bluesky, and Mastodon.
  • Custom video thumbnails are live on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, PeerTube, Pinterest, and YouTube.
  • LinkedIn PDF carousels publish and schedule from the composer, and Fedica now appears in the Android share menu for media.

Gen-AI by Choice

Some of you want nothing to do with generative AI. Others want every AI tool we can ship. Picking a side on your behalf was never going to work, so Fedica added a switch instead: open My Account settings and turn on Disable Generative AI features.

Flip it and the generative features leave your account. Everything else keeps working exactly as it did. Scheduling, analytics, and publishing don’t depend on it.

On the data question, since that’s what people usually mean when they ask: Fedica doesn’t use your data to train any LLM. That’s true whether you leave Gen-AI on or switch it off. The toggle controls which features appear in your account, not what happens behind them.

Describe Images With Gen-AI

Alt text is one click in Fedica now. Upload an image in the composer or the media library, generate, and a description lands in the field ready to edit. It works on every platform Fedica publishes to.

Alt text set in the media library sticks to the image. Pull that same image into a post six weeks later and the description comes with it, so you write it once instead of every time.

Read what comes out before you publish. Gen-AI gets image descriptions wrong often enough to be worth the five seconds, and the fix is usually one word. We wrote a full piece on generating alt text and then making it yours, including which images a generated description reliably struggles with and how to set Fedica to hold a post that’s missing one.

AutoPlugs

An AutoPlug is a follow-up reply that waits for your post to do well before it goes out. You write the reply, you set the engagement level that triggers it, and Fedica sends it once the post clears that bar.

The reply carries the link or the action you actually wanted people to take. Anyone arriving late at a post that’s already moving finds it at the top of the thread instead of three replies down, and the reply gives the original post another turn in the feed.

AutoPlugs run on X, Bluesky, Mastodon, and Threads.

Post Booster

Post Booster reposts your own post for you, once that post reaches the engagement level you chose and provided it gets there within 48 hours. Posts that land well get a second push in front of the people who missed them. Posts that don’t stay quiet.

The threshold is the whole point. You’re not reposting on a schedule and hoping; you’re reposting the ones that already proved something.

Post Booster runs on X, Bluesky, and Mastodon. Post Booster and AutoPlugs both sit alongside thread scheduling, poll scheduling, and post recycling in Fedica’s X growth tools.

LinkedIn PDF Carousels

You can publish and schedule LinkedIn PDF carousels straight from the Fedica composer now. Upload the document, write your text, pick the time, and it goes out as a swipeable document post.

If you haven’t built one before, we have a walkthrough on how to schedule a PDF carousel on LinkedIn covering the file limits LinkedIn applies and where to put your link.

Custom Video Thumbnails

A video thumbnail is the still image people see before they press play. Left alone, most platforms use a frame from the video itself, usually the opening one, and that frame is frequently a half-blink or a black fade-in. Fedica now lets you upload your own image instead, on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, PeerTube, Pinterest, and YouTube.

Those six are the platforms whose publishing APIs accept an uploaded image as the cover. On the rest, the cover comes from the video itself.

For the dimensions to design against, our social media image and video sizes guide has the current numbers per platform. Check that your text is still readable at phone size before you upload.

Share Media From Android

Fedica now appears in the Android share menu for media. Take a photo, hit share, pick Fedica, and it lands in your composer ready to schedule. Text sharing already worked; images and video work now too.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I turn off generative AI features in Fedica?

Open “My Account” settings and turn on “Disable Generative AI features”. The generative tools, alt text generation included, leave your account, and scheduling, analytics, and publishing carry on unchanged. Fedica doesn’t use your data to train any LLM whether that toggle is on or off.

What’s the difference between AutoPlugs and Post Booster?

AutoPlugs add a follow-up reply to your post. Post Booster reposts the original. Both wait until the post reaches an engagement level you set. AutoPlugs run on X, Bluesky, Mastodon, and Threads; Post Booster runs on X, Bluesky, and Mastodon, and only fires inside a 48-hour window.

How long does Post Booster wait before reposting?

Post Booster reposts as soon as your post reaches the engagement level you picked, provided that happens within 48 hours of publishing. A post that doesn’t reach the threshold inside that window isn’t reposted.

Which platforms support custom video thumbnails in Fedica?

Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, PeerTube, Pinterest, and YouTube. On each of those you upload your own image in the Fedica composer, and Fedica sends it as the video’s cover when the post publishes.

Does alt text set in the media library carry over to new posts?

Yes. Alt text saved against an image in the Fedica media library is reused every time you pull that image into the composer, so you set it once per image rather than once per post.

Can I schedule a LinkedIn carousel from Fedica?

Yes. Upload a PDF in the Fedica composer, add your text, and schedule it like any other post. It publishes as a LinkedIn document carousel.
